Day 3 - Morning Report

Huntington Beach -- Adam Espino

Huge day on the beach today with the first day of the ASP Men’s Prime main event at the 2014 Vans US Open of Surfing.  Over the course of the day, the first 18 heats of Round 1 will go off featuring surfing’s best talent and its brightest stars.

While all of today’s heats are sure to be captivating, here are a few specific heats to keep your eyes on:

Wiley veteran CJ Hobgood will compete against powerful young Hawaiian surfer Ezekiel Lau in Heat 5.  Always a threat to boost impressive airs, South African Jordy Smith takes the water in Heat 8.  Last year’s Men’s Junior Pro champion Conner Coffin will take a giant step into the big leagues when he faces off against Dane Reynolds and 2013 Men’s US Open champion Alejo Muniz in Heat 15.  Australian sensation Julian Wilson will clash with young Huntington Beach local Kanoa Igarashi in Heat 17.

In addition to the ASP Men’s Prime main event, the bowl will host Industry Skate Day from 12:00p - 6:00p.

Vans will host the first of two Vans Movie Nights with a showing of Despicable Me 2 in the Amphitheater on the north side of the HB pier at 6:00p.
