When the 2014 US Open of Surfing landed at Huntington Beach, so did several world-renowned artists. Zio Ziegler, Jay Howell, Chris Yormick, Rich Jacobs, and Nathaniel Russell teamed up to create a one of a kind art piece in the Van Doren Invitational bowl. Inside the bowl, San Francisco artist Zio Ziegler created a stunning mural which wrapped around completely. The characters and faces of artist Rich Jacobs were brought to life alongside the crazy bat and skulls that inhabit artist/animator Jay Howell’s world. Chris Yormick’s characters brought old school street style, referencing graffiti from the Marseille SkatePark in France. As an added bonus, PlateLunchSpecial creator Gregg Kaplan dropped in to add his unique surf-inspired designs and patterns. "Easy Sunday", an art show featuring the participating artists, opened at the AR4T gallery in neighboring Laguna Beach.
