Gilmore’s Injury Saga Continues, Andrew in for Open

Gilmore Talks Injury at Fiji
During the Fiji Women's Pro, Gilmore checked in with the WSL broadcast via video chat to provide an update on her injury.

Six-time World Champion Stephanie Gilmore (AUS) has withdrawn from the Vans US Open of Surfing -- her third consecutive missed event -- due to an injury she suffered during a freesurf at the Drug Award Margaret River Pro. She will once again be replaced by WSL Injury ReplacementKeely Andrew (AUS).

Gilmore stated during the Fiji Women's Pro that she expected to be back in the water within a matter of weeks, but her withdrawal from the US Open suggest she still has a ways to go before being 100 percent her leg.

The reigning Champ is currently ranked No. 8 on the Jeep Leaderboardand will count another injury result for the US Open, an event which she finished runner-up at in 2014.

Gilmore finished runner-up in the 2014 Vans US Open of Surfing.

Andrew's has already joined the elite in both Rio and Fiji. The remaining wildcard seed for the US Open will be awarded to the highest ranked surfer in the North American region following the Paul Mitchell Supergirl Pro QS 6,000.
