Italo Ferreira may have lost on a last-second buzzer-beater by Pat Gudauskas today in the Round of 16 at the US Open of Surfing men's QS. But the Brazilian won the hearts of many a surfer looking for progression under competitive circumstances.
Aside from his wicked-fast surfing (see above) a bunch of keen observers caught another one of his technical tricks. For the second day running, the powerful goofyfoot ended a number of waves with a pop shuv-it to switch revert. Following his loss to Pat G, on his way to the beach, Italo rode out cleanly from his third attempt. Skate-inspired surfers like Christian Fletcher and Joe Crimo would be proud.
